November:

Idle Hands: A unique holiday gift sale of local handmade items. Sunday, November 29th, 10-5, $2. At the one and only Patrick Gordon Framing. You can bet I'll be there.

In other November news: I know what you're thinking: November? Are you for real? Yes it is. And yes I am.

My old pal, Julie Doiron, is on tour with new pals, Herman Dune. Wherever they are, and wherever you are, well, these two places should be the same place. If you know what I mean. Speaking of music, November around here means The Clash and Slint. I don't know why. It just does. In other news, stay tuned for Idle Hands, a craft show/sale/party! You know what they say, don't you? Idle hands are the devil's playthings. And they mean it. They so mean it.

October: The new Lorrie Moore book, A Gate at the Stairs, is sad and beautiful and the best thing I've read in a long time. Go, read it. Read it now. And when you are done that, read the new Alice Munro collection, Too Much Happiness. You will be so happy that you did. While we're at it, I've been listening to Stina Nordenstam's The World Is Saved. It's perfect for October. As is Lhasa's self-titled album. That's a good one, that one is. Enjoy the month; because what else are you going to do with it?

September (or, Old News): My pals Snailhouse and Cat Pontoon will be performing at the lovely Raw Sugar Cafe in Ottawa this month. And I'll be joining them to do a reading. (See "poster" below.) I'm pretty sure you won't want to miss this. At least, I know that I don't want to miss this. Hope to see you there.

August (or, Older News): Sappy was great. Jon Claytor and Paul Henderson did a bang up job. Once again. I don't know how they do it. I don't. I mean, I really don't. Know. How. They. Do. It.
